State Rep Report – Gene - ABATE U chapter challenge-wait until after Grounded Hogs Fund raiser to set challenge amount. Next BOD Jan 21;2006 at Best Western in Morris, MN 9:00am. We need to sell raffle tickets.
Membership & Retention Report – Kenny - current Lake Chapter membership is down to 438 members. We all need to be recruiting. We need to show our legislature that ABATE is a viable organization. Carry Tri-folds with you always.
Motorcycle Riders Foundation Report – Todd - Read excerpts from MRF publication an article by Bob Thomlins, Assistant General Secretary of FEMA (Federation of European Motorcyclists Association), about Noise Regulation #41 which is working with the EPA to establish world wide motorcycle noise regulations. This could mean that if a motorcycle is found to be fitted with an illegal exhaust it should be destroyed. This is only one example of what the noise regulation would mean. The MRF represents you as a motorcyclist. It is only $25.00 to be a member for a year. If you are not a member, you really should join.
Government Relations Report – Mike -We have one main legislative issue-Failure to Yield-House Bill HF467, Senate Bill SF44l. We have to restructure the verbiage to delete the felony part but still make sure there will be stiff consequences for this issue. Biker day at the State Capital is March 8, 2006. This is an extremely good way to tell our congressmen that we are serious. We can talk directly to our representatives and our politicians want to talk to us. This is our opportunity to show up on the capital steps in huge numbers. Buses will be scheduled and you can register by mailed cards or by website as soon as the bus schedules are completed. Gov. Pawlenty appointed Tom Workman, Carver County Commissioner of Chanhassen, as Special Advisor on Motorcycle Relations to the Department of Public Safety's Minn. Motorcycle Safety Advisory Committee as of 1-02-06. Congratulations Tom!! Read Mike's article in January Road Noise. Mary- Don't forget to support your motorcycle friendly representative-send in $50.00 and in about six weeks you will receive that money back.
Presidents Committee on Improving Attendance - Popeye- Jim -winner of $5.00 off product merchandise goes to Julie Anderson and Metro Chapter donated 2 tickets to their winter bash and the winner of that is Popeye.
Gambling Report – Schmitty - Not present
MN Safety Center Report – Mike - The National Highway Transportation Safety Admin. is trying to set up a national advisory board re: national motorcycle safety and training procedure and making it a national policy. We made a motion that AMSAC fund Dial-A-Ride. Public officials work for the public. Spinning the minutes of our meetings will not be tolerated by our elected representatives. Pat Hawn seems to have a history of just that. Dave who was our rep before me sent her a letter saying we've got some problems with this and proceeded to set the record straight with what really happened at our meetings and what was and wasn't said and also gave her correct data which she seemed to have mis-represented. An e-mail was sent back to David of which the last paragraph (read by Mike) said "Final warning. This is as nice as it's going to get. It ends here. I'm not interested in these little games of yours anymore. If you continue to 'F#&k' with me, your might just open up a can of worms you wish you hadn't." This is from our paid public servant. This e-mail is going directly to the governor. This is an outrage. Send an e-mail to the governor and the people in charge of Pat Hawn and tell them comments like this is not only out of line but they will not be tolerated. See David if you want a hard copy. Can it be published in the Road Noise? It should be e-mailed to everyone. Next AMSAC meeting is 1-19-06.
Public Relations Report – Mitch - Has Kare 11 tape for Toys for Tots. Next year will be our 10th anniversary. We will not be at the Howard Lake Expo this year. Albertville Fire Dept. needs us to go back to take another picture for buddy bears. (The one we took didn't turn out). They meet on the first Thursday of the month and maybe we should wait until spring so we can ride our bikes. Needs picture of Charm receiving Steve Kreitlow award.
Products Report – Keith - Has patches, Bob Moy patches are not in yet. Has lots of product-buy lots.
